Venture for America
A friend of mine, Andrew Yang, is running a very cool organization called Venture For America. The idea is simple, take fresh graduates from school and encourage them towards entrepreneurship in struggling cities like Detroit, where the costs of starting a business are substantially lower. It’s a two-year post-grad program inside a startup, where the primary purpose is mentorship towards becoming an entrepreneur on the other side.
I love the ethos of what Andrew is building, and it’s the best idea I’ve heard for help spark regrowth in the areas of the country heavily impacted by the loss of manufacturing jobs.
Venture For America is hosting a kickoff party at the IAC building in NYC on July 28th. I strongly encourage people to attend; it’s in support of a great cause.
