→Digg Has Dug Into Twitter
Twitter reports on their blog that pretty much every topic on Digg now has a cooresponding Twitter account (created by Digg). There are a couple important discoveries in this announcement:
- The emergence of the need for namespaces in Twitter. Digg’s namespace happens to be digg_* (where * is an object in the namespace). This makes me want to go register andrewparker_* for a bunch of relevant objects.
- Twitter usage is starting to look more like RSS usage. What’s the implication… Are Twitter clients going to start looking more and more like feed readers? TweetDeck is already moving this direction… perhaps more will follow.
- Twitter is becomming a “first stop” gateway. Just like I go to Google to the answer to nearly any question, I now go to Twitter to find CURRENT sentiment, commentary on events happening now. Twitter is my first stop for all things related to “now” and what I find often contains a link which I follow.
