Internet pundits are (rightfully) really excited about this PhotoSketch demo where you draw stick figures, and it generates real composite photos to match your drawing.  Yes, yes, very cool, I’m in awe too.

But, this totally reminds me of something equally as cool.  My fiancee’s cousin-in-law*, Maneesh Agrawala just won a MacArthur Grant (AKA “Genius” award).  He’s a professor at Berkeley working in HCI on some awesome projects, similar to PhotoSketch, that simplifies the process of creating and engaging with computer visualizations. This video is his acceptance of the award along with a lightweight explaination of his work; well worth a watch.  Congrats Maneesh!
