I think Bloomberg would do a terrific job in his third-term as mayor, and I think his financial background is going to be a crucial asset to this city as we move towards recovery on Wall St over the next 4 years.
However, I won’t vote for him, and I think his bid for a third-term is a mistake.
This is more of a gut-feeling rather than an informed decision, but I feel like this is a mistake based on my experience in programming. Gutting a well-architected system of governance in order to acheive a short term goal is a slippery slope towards spagetti code. I’d rather see the integrity of the law (even though the term limits law is only 15 years old) upheld than see a well-qualified, talented Bloomberg leading our city.
It’s a tough decision, and I may change my mind by the time the election rolls around, but that’s how I feel right now.
